And we're back!
How you doin'? TGIF? I agree! Let's kick it off with some new tracks from Peach Kelli Pop!
Allie Hanlon fronts Peach Kelli Pop and she writes some pop bangers. But we're not talkin' Lady Gaga/Britney Spears here (not that there's anything wrong with that :P). We're talkin' garage-y. We're talkin' lo-fi. We're talkin' guitar-driven. Basically, we're talkin' fully awesome power-pop!
I got into Peach Kelli Pop after I bought their first self titled album: Peach Kelli Pop I (that's a roman numeral for the number one!). I noticed it on vinyl because it had been repressed by the label Infinity Cat Records. Infinity Cat Records is run by the guys from JEFF the Brotherhood and they rule! I spun the record with their implied recommendation and was not disappointed! In fact, I loved it. I've been a fan ever since. I bet you'll be a fan too if you give any of their records a listen!
My favorite song off of "Gentle Leader" is Black Magic:
I know. I thought the same thing. Driving drums. Rhythm guitar grinding away. Second guitar giving us a killer riff. Bass bopping along. Allie's doubled vocals. Like I said: pop bangers. Put "Gentle Leader" and any other Peach Kelli Pop you can find on your playlist this weekend. You won't regret it!
Fortune Cookie Wisdom
I got a really good fortune cookie the other day:
Isn't that great!?
If we're too scared to try, nothing good happens. I've been thinking a lot about confronting fear lately. I wrote myself a little note yesterday (writing things down not only helps me remember ideas but putting the idea to paper actually helps to clarify my thoughts).
The note says:
Not scared, psyched!
Not tired, psyched!
Not offended, psyched!
I wanted to remind myself that I don't make decisions based on fear, fatigue, or ego. All other virtues depend on showing up, feeling good, and being brave!
Y'all feeling me?
