Is it the weekend already!? Here is my recommendation for your party playlist:
I had never heard of Colleen Green until last week and I'm so glad I did. This album rips so hard. You can check out her bandcamp here: https://colleengreen.bandcamp.com/album/i-want-to-grow-up
To my ears, "I Want To Grow Up" sounds like a great sounding mix of one my all-time favorite bands, JEFF The Brotherhood with the pop-rocker Peach Kelli Pop. While you're adding Colleen Green to your playlist you might as well add JEFF The Brotherhood and Peach Kelli Pop, huh? :P Recommended albums are: JEFF The Brotherhood's "Zone" and "Wasted on the Dream," and Peach Kelli Pop's album known just as "I" as in roman numeral one. Check 'em!
One of my biggest guilty pleasures is watching "Rig Rundown" videos that the guitar gear magazine PREMIER Guitar puts out regularly. If you go to their website they have a whole section of these Rig Rundowns where the journalists go out and ask my favorite bands what kind of guitars, basses, pedals, amps, picks, cables, etc. they use.
The latest episode was an interview with the San Diego psychedelic rockers Earthless. (You might as well add them to your playlist too, I suppose! "Rhythms From A Cosmic Sky" is my favorite of their records.)
When Isaiah Mitchell and Mike Eginton test out their rigs in the video it sounds like microphones are being demolished. I love it! Isaiah shows off a pedal I've never seen before called a Diaz Texas Ranger and it rules! Has anyone out there ever tried one? I guess it's based of a Dallas Rangemaster Treble Booster... I'm thinking I might have to build myself one!
That's all for this episode! Until next time,
