Let's get the weekend kicked off right!
Here it is! The album of the week coming in on Friday night for your weekend listening pleasure.
Angel Olsen's compilation album "Phases" contains songs written and/or recorded between 2012 and 2017 and slapped onto one LP. It rips.
Angel's voice and vocal delivery varies throughout the compilation. Each variation is beautiful. The variety itself is impressive and fun.
I love the production. Beautifully minimal and lo-fi. I like to hear fingers sliding across guitar strings and breaths between lyrics. I can feel the humanity, ya know?!
My favorite song on the album is "Sweet Dreams." It starts out sounding like Courtney Barnett and winds up sounding like Chris Isaak with a little Jefferson Airplane to fill the gap.
Definitely scope it out!

for this blog, here is a cool cool cool website that provides sound and visualizations for learning about waveforms!
Have a great weekend!
